Kim McCarty | Executive Director
kmccarty@oregoncat.org Speaks: English
Kim is committed to addressing the struggles of renters in Oregon. She recognizes that central to that struggle are systemic and historic barriers to housing, economic and environmental justice faced by people of color, women, indigenous communities, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. She believes that CAT’s model of community engagement, education, and advocacy works to empower renters to make the changes they need. She is excited to help CAT grow its staff, influence and reach to more Oregonians.
Kim’s career includes community organizing, contract management, and policy development. She has a wide range of housing sector experience including affordable housing development, property management, and housing policy with a focus on renters and Fair Housing. Kim has worked in many parts of the United States, but as a graduate of Benson High School, she identifies as an Oregonian and knows what Oregonians care for and are concerned about.
Kim comes to us from the Portland Housing Bureau (PHB). PHB is a long-term grantor and supporter of CAT efforts. In her role of as a contract manager, and now as the Rental Services Manager, she increased the number of rental service providers, sought partnerships with culturally specific providers, initiated new innovative services, and focused providers on improving access and delivery of services to our Black, Indigenous, Latinx and all People of Color.
In all of her work, she has brought the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. She plans to build on these values with the passionate board members, employees, and members at CAT.
