Tenant Education

In order to work towards our mission of safe, stable and affordable rental homes, tenants need a place to call home. CAT’s Tenant Education Program is for tenants, by tenants and serves the express purpose of keeping renters informed so they have the resources and knowledge they need to stay in their homes. The Program includes the Renters’ Rights Hotline, community workshops, and informational brochures. Driven by renters with direct experience in these areas, CAT’s Tenant Education Program is the only program in Oregon that translates landlord-tenant law into easy to digest information that all renters understand.

Community Workshops

CAT’s Community workshops provide renters an orientation to landlord-tenant law and information needed to protect our rights. We bring workshops to different communities and in multiple languages- you may see us at a school or library near you!

Renter Information Brochures

Know Your Rights Information explains the law in everyday language so tenants know their rights and the courses of action that will increase their ability to remain in their current homes. Information is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and some limited resources in Russian, Burmese, and other languages.

Evictions Counseling

Evictions can be tough. If you’ve found that you or a loved one is facing eviction in Multnomah county and have a court date coming up, please reach out to us at 503-460-9702 ext 110 and ask to speak with an Evictions Court Counselor.

A counselor provides non-legal support, referrals to helpful resources, and cannot provide rental assistance funds. You can also email us at evictionsupport@oregoncat.org.
