Southern Oregon Organizer

The bilingual organizer will primarily be responsible for coordinating local work in Jackson, Josephine, and Curry Counties, they will focus on outreach to low income renters, especially BIPOC and immigrant renters. They will work to grow CAT’s membership, advocate for policies which stabilize low income renters in their homes, and support the movement for housing justice. The organizer will be expected to be responsive to the needs of the community and actively search for opportunities to grow regional and statewide power amongst the renter class in the region. As capacity allows, the organizer may be asked to support grassroots fundraising and the Tenant Protections Team. Though the organizer will likely be based in Jackson or Josephine County, the organizer may be asked to support tenants in neighboring counties, particularly Douglas, Curry, and Klamath Counties.

Beyond Recovery Organizer

The organizer will primarily be responsible for coordinating with the rest of the organizing team and membership to connect local work to the National Right To The City (RTTC) Beyond Recovery Campaign - a campaign focused on creating change both locally and nationally in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic. The organizer will work in conjunction with CAT’s regional organizers to connect members across traditional barriers and build momentum at the local, state, and national levels. The organizer will work to grow CAT’s membership and advocate for policies which stabilize low income renters in their homes. The organizer will be expected to be responsive to the needs of Oregon’s Renter Class and actively search for opportunities to grow regional and statewide power amongst the renter class across Oregon. As capacity allows, the organizer may be asked to support grassroots fundraising and the Tenant Protections Team. This position will report to the Organizing and Advocacy Director but will be expected to be heavily self-directed in coordinating membership opportunities to engage in national, local, and statewide campaigns.

Marion County Organizer

The organizer will primarily be responsible for coordinating local work to build local tenant-led structures, grow CAT’s membership, advocate for policies which stabilize low income renters in their homes. The organizer will be expected to be responsive to the needs of the community and actively search for opportunities to grow regional and statewide power amongst the renter class in the region. As capacity allows, the organizer may be asked to support grassroots fundraising and the Tenant Protections Team.  Though the organizer will be centered in Marion County, the organizer may be asked to support tenants in neighboring counties, particularly Polk, Lane, Lynne and Benton Counties.

The organizer will work to respond to localized housing emergencies, support tenants in responding to needs in their community, and build capacity for both civic engagement and direct action amongst CAT’s membership.

Deschutes County Organizer

Deschutes County Hotline Specialist

The Community Alliance of Tenants (CAT) is seeking an engaging, self-directed and dynamic individual who is passionate about housing justice and empowering tenants through tenant education and organizing. This position will be primarily responsible for tenant education, regional expansion and tenant organizing. As a social justice organization dedicated to dismantling systems of oppression as it relates to housing justice, the ideal candidate is an advocate at heart who has the desire to support the spread of tenant knowledge through community education. This position is 30 hours a week and reports to the Tenant Education and Support Hotline Manager. Hourly wage is $18-20, and includes full medical and dental coverage, paid holidays and personal leave. This position is based out of Deschutes County.
