Eviction Representation for All Tax Mythbusting

The Eviction Representation for All measure to give every tenant in eviction court a lawyer is coming up May 16th in Multnomah County. The ballot measure, Measure 26-238 is facing mounting opposition from corporate interests, and out of state landlord groups who are doing a lot of fearmongering to convince folks this is somehow a tax that will hit everyone. Breaking news: it won’t. More like 9% of folks living in the tax. And the funding mechanism, Capital Gains Tax, if you’ve never heard of it before, chances are you probably aren’t paying it. This measure will guarantee a steady funding stream for eviction representation for every Multnomah County tenant in eviction court as we continue to see eviction filings skyrocket, rents balloon out of control and illegal evictions continue. Don’t believe the hype. There is no later. It’s time to vote, YES on Eviction Represenation for All (Measure 26-238) this May 16th, 2023.
